Our flagship journal in particle and nuclear physics, PMC Physics A, has accepted its first manuscripts in July. These manuscripts will be published as a mini inaugural 'issue' very soon, however subsequent manuscripts will enjoy immediate publication as soon as they are accepted. Look out the first papers, and the chance to sign-up for article alerts by email, next month.

Over the coming weeks we will be announcing several new broadly-scoped journals in physics, which will benefit from the open access model. However, we are also interested in starting more specialist journals which cover a smaller niche. These journals would be run by scientists for scientists, but using PhysMath Central's publishing platform and support staff. If you think that your area of research could benefit from a specialist, independent, open access journal, contact us at newjournals@physmathcentral.com.

The PhysMath Central homepage currently hosts two videos with Robert Aymar (Director General of CERN) and Jens Vigen (Scientific Information Officer at CERN). Both interviews give a convincing case of why open access is important in the world of science in general and physics in particular. Click the image to go to the PMC homepage:

PMC Physics A editorial board member Jim Al-Khalili has recently enjoyed a tremedously successful run of TV programmes on BBC4 called 'Atom'. If you get a chance to see this mini-series (3 episodes of 1 hour each) you will not be disappointed. It received rave reviews in the UK and should explain to non-physicists what it is that physicists actually do!
