We are very pround to annouce the editorial board for our first open access journal, PMC Physics A, covering nuclear and particle physics, along with gravity, cosmology and astroparticle physics. The exceptional quality of the board reflects out ambition to make PMC Physics A one of the foremost publications in its field.

The Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics is a global network of funding agencies, research labs and libraries, aiming to provide open and unrestricted access to all HEP research literature in its final, peer-reviewed form and to contain the overall cost of journal publishing by increasing competition while assuring sustainability. Their recently released report outlines a vision for open access to all existing high-energy physics journals. There was also good news for PMC Physics A: SCOAP3 is "open to all existing and future high-quality journals carrying HEP content, within budgetary limits" and in tendering for the program, new journals will be evaluated by "criteria such as the profile of the editorial board". The full report is available on the CERN website.

In early May PhysMath Central took part in the Particle Physics & Astrophysics Information Summit held at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The aim of the meeting, which involved publishers, societies, major labs and database providers, was to ascertain what the future needs of research physicist will be over the next few years and how all parties can work together to optimize our service to scientists. There is still much to discuss, but since all content on PhysMath Central will be open access, we are exceptionally well-placed to interact with other services ensure publication in PMC is the first step to diseeminating research to the widest possible audience.

PhysMath Central was recently featured in the In Brief section of D-Lib Magazine. Read all about us here.

PhysMath Central is proud to announce that it will be accepting supplementary files in the new Mathematica 6 .nbp format. Authors can develop mini-apps with instant interactivity which a reader can then manipulate to change conditions and analyze the results. We are very excited about this development in online publishing and look forward to the first articles published on PhysMath Central utilizing this new resource.
