The transmission coefficient and its spin polarization for a GaAs/(AlAs)₈/GaAs single barrier structure. The red solid line is for 'spin-up' and the blue dashed line is for 'spin-down'. Two cases of k_|| are shown. One energy window of large spin polarization exists in the vicinity of -0.2 eV for k_|| = 0.03 2π/a. No such window is obtained for k_|| = 0.06 2π/a. This shows that efficient spin polarization can be obtained independently of the magnitude of Dresselhaus splitting.
